This show was at Loughborough Town Hall and was clearly billed as a work in progress gig. But comedians as good as Jimmy Carr can make WIP gigs amazing. He is currently putting together a greatest hits tour of all his best stuff and is using these gigs to try the material out again. Jimmy was onstage for about an hour and a quarter for the first half and at least another hour for the second. He then stayed to say hi to any fans who wanted to meet him in the foyer. There was no way anyone could feel short-changed by this gig as it was just gag after gag. His near the knuckle routines would sometimes raise gasps but he was just testing the water to see how far the audience were willing to go. He picked on a couple of people in the audience but he would mostly ask the audience questions and deal with individual responses rather than mercilessly embarrass people. This really was a great show and Jimmy played to a very happy and very full theatre as he deservedly has a reputation for working hard to entertain his audiences and an enviable back catalogue of hilarious gags. A thoroughly excellent show.
